		Richard Shenk Discretionary Fund As you may know, Richard Shenk, one of the leaders in the Aspen Jewish Community, suffered severe injuries in an early April plane crash. He is slowly recovering but is still hospitalized. Richard felt very deeply about the local Jewish Community, Israel and Jews around the world. The Richard Shenk Discretionary Fund has been set up and is accepting donations. Richard himself will determine to which Jewish causes the fund is allocated. We as Jews think about the kind of person we want to be and the kind of life we want to live. Most of us would say that we want to make every minute count and live a generous life.

We need your participation in our efforts to build a strong Jewish community here in the Aspen Valley, and we hope you will consider joining us by making a contribution. We support Jews worldwide including the growing underclass in Israel and the elderly in need in the former Soviet Union and in Argentina.

We work hard to support Jewish causes in the Aspen Valley including a $1000 certificate for every Bar or Bat Mitzvah for travel to Israel (In 2005 this totaled 15 young people). In addition, we have been responsive to victims of the Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina.

We are also helping the New Orleans Jewish community rebuild itself and are helping Young Leaders participate in an International Conference in Tel Aviv.
